THE STRATENÁ / Sztracena valley ROAD was constructed at Prince Ferdinand Coburg's expense on the land of his entail; work on the road was finished in 1840. The so-called Stratená rock castle is formed by 80-90 m high precipices that emerge from the nearby stream. The valley is closed by a steep deeply wooded slope and only a small stream could find a way through its crevices. Two spikey cliffs rise here: the Stratená pass, in fact a tunnel, was driven through one of them. The pass does not exist any more.
