Strážske / Őrmező is a small village by the Laborec, on territory of the former Zemplén County. At the end of the 19th century it had 1000, mostly Slovak, inhabitants. Judging from the name of the village (Slov. Strážske > Hung. "strázsa" = őr = guard), its residents probably served as royal advance guards in the past. In 1451 the Drugeth family of Humenné got hold of the village which, following a series of changes of its owners, finally became part of the Humenné estate. The Count Széchenyi family was among its later owners. - The sketch on the verso depicts the ruins of Vinné castle (roughly from the west) from a viewpoint opposite to that of item 18.7. - Bibliography: Zemplén
