Vel'ká Lomnica / Kakaslomnic / Großlomnitz is one of the oldest and most famous Tatran settlements. It has one single street that is flanked by a line of houses; one frequently comes upon this pattern of settlement in the sub-Tatran rural region. In the village we can visit the lower Berzeviczy mansion, which was built in the middle of a vast garden between the Poprad river and the main road. The present Renaissance mansion was built on the site of the old house. Gergely Berzeviczy (1763-1822), a renowned Hungarian economist of the era and member of the Göttingen Learned Society, was born in this mansion. - Bibliography: Szepesi, Szombathy 1986
