Slovenská L'upča lies on the north bank of the Hron. Above it we see the castle with the ridges of the Nízke Tatry at the back. - The 275 km long Hron / Garam takes its source at the base of the Král'ova hol'a. South of the Nízke Tatry it flows westwards through a long valley, then it bends towards the south at Banská Bystrica to revert to the west at Zvolen.
