Hlohovec lies on the left bank of the Váh, at the meeting of the plain and the mountainous woodland to the north. The landscape is depicted from the viewpoint of an observer standing on the castle hill and facing north, looking upstream along the Váh. The castle, now replaced by the Erdődy mansion, stood on the edge of this hill. The tower of the parish church (cf. item 1.3) rises above the surrounding houses of the town. - For information on Hlohovec, see:
